Be humble, for you are of the earth; be noble, for you are of the stars.-- Serbian proverb
  • Websites
    • Even if you don't live there, Boise Cloth Diapers is a great website for those who are interested in cloth diapers.   I especially love that they give clear instructions on how to make your own by recycling grown-up clothes.   I used nothing but cloth for my own kids and love it when new parents make the effort to embrace this practice.   I truly believe we need to rethink the whole practice of buying things that go straight to the landfill!   This site is now owned by a fellow child care provider who has another site worth checking: Urban Green Kids.

    • Mamatoto is Swahili for the Mother-Baby unit.   The Mamatoto Project was created to educate people on the advantages of babywearing, with the philosophy that the idea of holding a baby with a simple piece of cloth belongs to humanity.   Their website is one of the best ever with lots of free information about how to use your store bought slings and wraps or how to make your own.   On the first page are these words, "Chill Baby!   You don't have to learn everything right now.   You don't have to learn everything, ever.   Just relax."   Don't you love them already?

    • The National Vaccine Information Center is a national, non-profit organization dedicated to preventing vaccine injuries and deaths through public education and defending the right to informed consent to vaccination.   This subject is so important that this website is posted twice on Joyful; here and on the Health page.   Before you choose to vaccinate your child, please educate yourself about the risks.   This page will help you determine what the laws are in your state.   If the State can tag, track down and force citizens against their will to be injected with biologicals of unknown toxicity today, there will be no limit on what individual freedoms the State can take away in the name of the greater good tomorrow. - Barbara Loe Fisher, Co-Founder NVIC

    • The Rebozo Way project Honoring the wisdom of ancient ways and diverse cultures, indigenous babywearing and traditional birthing lore.

It is astounding that a thousand generations of knowledge and experience can be wiped out by a single generation of ignorance.
